Containing much rare and previously unseen footage, and clocking in at over an hour and a half of compelling viewing, this programme affords an intimate glimpse of the artists and sounds that helped shape Zep’s own unequalled output.

This fascinating programme tells the story of the music and artists that have influenced Zeppelin throughout their career. “Down The Tracks” focuses on the long blues heritage that was behind much of their music but also covers areas such as skiffle and folk that are clearly identifiable on Led Zeppelin’s albums. There is also a brief exploration of their occult influences. A number of blues historians and music authors are interviewed alongside renowned producers such as Joe Boyd and Larry Cohn and musicians John Renbourn, Chas McDevitt and Davey Graham.

“Down The Tracks” takes a considered look at the genesis of the Zeppelin sound and features clips from songs performed by such luminaries as: Howlin’ Wolf, Davey Graham, Charley Patton, Son House, Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, John Renbourn, Bukka White and many more. This DVD release contains newly filmed performances by John Renbourn, Davey Graham, Chas McDevitt, Cadillac John and Bob Brozman and 40 minutes of additional material not featured in the broadcast version.
